AVON YOUTH LEAGUE U’13 DIV 3

BRISTOL CENTRAL       3

FRY CLUB COLTS          0

For the first time this season, we had 17 fit and available players which meant team selection had to be made, leaving 3 players out. The players selected didn’t disappoint as the opening minutes saw us take the game to Bristol Central by forcing 2 corners. In fact we dominated the first 10 minutes only just failing to score. However, from Centrals first attack, they managed to take the lead with another sloppy goal. Our response was swift with further good play in Midfield from both James Boulton and Mo Bouaziz leading to another corner which the keeper just pushed onto the bar. Oli Randall once again led the defence soundly. However, a moment of magic from one of the Bristol Central forwards with a flick over our defence with his heal and a wonderful volley over Craig Francis in goal gave them an underserved 2-0 lead into half time.

The second half saw us continue to push for a breakthrough. Reece Tucker on the right side was proving a threat with some good wing play, and both full backs, Ben Bowden and Jordan Knight were pushing on in support. A tactical substitution saw James Hurrell Smith put up front with Oli Boon which created 3 further chances, all falling to James, the best of which was an exquisite lob over the keeper which dropped agonisingly the wrong side of the post. Unfortunately Central scored a third, much against the run of play, which sealed the win for them.

It was a frustrating day all round for us, but all 14 players played their part in a great team performance, which deserved much more than what we got.

Man of the Match James Boulton for a superb midfield performance.
